Goblet of Water Rules and FAQ
Welcome to the Houses of Hydration and the Goblet of Water! The club has been split randomly into 5 different teams, or “Houses”, named after a different species of badger, each vying for the fabled Goblet of Water. Each House has 2 members of the officer board assigned to help organize events and answer any questions about the rules or the season. Please check the main competition page for your team assignment!
The competition is based around adding drops into each House's goblet. You can earn drops by completing challenges or by breaking one of the SCUW Guinness Records. Submission periods for each week will open at 12 AM each Monday and close at 12 PM Sunday of that week. Challenges will refresh weekly at 12 AM Monday.
Daily challenges are worth 10 drops each. You may complete 1 daily challenge per day, and must attempt all available daily challenges before repeating one. Daily events are simple, 5-minute challenges that can be completed quickly at any time during the day.
Weekly challenges are worth 70 drops each, and you may complete up to 4 weekly challenges per week with no restrictions on repetition. Weekly challenges are more challenging and involve longer periods of activity.
Bonus challenges are announced sporadically throughout the semester. These could be larger events or volunteering events that will be available on a limited basis. These could also be whole-team events that involve direct competition between Houses. These have a base value of 140 drops for participation but additional drops may be rewarded based on the event.
SCUW Guinness Record Board is a collection of random records that may or may not be fitness related. You can attempt to break as many records as you’d like whenever you’d like. Submissions with some form of proof must be turned into your House officer. All new record holders at the end of each week will be awarded 50 drops for their House per record. The Record Board will be regularly updated with new categories and records.
Each week's challenge list and submission forms can be found in the Challenges page under the Goblet of Water tab. A separate form must be filled out for each challenge completed.
We will also take suggestions for daily/weekly challenges and SCUW Guinness Record categories! Go to the Suggestions page under the Goblet of Water tab to submit your idea!
FAQ:
Can I do all of my daily events in 1 day?
No. Daily events must be completed and submitted on each day for it to count. A day qualifies as 12:00AM to 11:59PM and only one submission per day will count.
Can I do multiple weekly events in 1 day?
Yes! Weekly events only score the first 4 submissions. If you really feel like doing them all on one day go ahead!
When should I submit a form for drops?
Only after completing the event. For example, if you are planning on completing a weekly event on Friday, do not submit the form on Thursday because you are going to do it.
I see multiple daily and weekly events, which ones do I do?
Great question! There will always be about 4-5 daily events for each week and you are allowed to choose the order in which you do them. Once you have at least attempted all of them, then you will be allowed to choose any of them for the rest of the week! If there is a daily event you are not comfortable with doing, please contact the officer of your house to tell them. There will be 4-5 weekly events per week and for these you are allowed to pick any of them as many times as you would like.
Is there a limit to the amount of drops I can get per week?
Technically no. For daily and weekly events yes, you are allowed 70 drops/week for daily and 280 drops/week for weekly events. For bonus events and records there are no limits.
How do I get points for records?
At the end of each week, all of the records will be updated with all recent submissions. The new record holder for a position will earn 50 drops for themselves. If you break your own record you will still earn points! If there are multiple submissions for one record, only the best submission will earn points at the end of each week
How do I know what house I am in?
You should have received an email about what house you were placed into. You can also check the roster on the Goblet of Water main page. If you are not on the roster, please contact an officer to be sorted.
Why should I earn drops? Is there a reward?
Competing in events is a good way to stay active and still stay a part of the swim club culture. Sharing your completed events with your group is a great way to connect with other members of the club even while being stuck online. There will be a reward of epic proportions for the team that has the most drops at the end of the competition.
